About Hair Transplants

Dayton do not provide hair transplant treatments but instead we provide some background on how such a treatment affects the scalp.

The surgery involves moving healthy hair follicles from the back of your head to balding areas, with the scalp being numbed under local anesthesia. Your surgeon will either remove a small strip of scalp or individual follicles, then create tiny holes in the recipient area to place them.
In the first week after surgery, your scalp will be tender and sensitive, with small scabs forming around each transplanted follicle. You'll likely experience some redness, swelling, and possibly minor bleeding - all normal parts of the healing process.

During weeks 2-4, the scabs naturally fall off and the skin begins healing.
You may notice some itching and bumpiness in the treated areas as your scalp forms new blood vessels to nourish the transplanted hair.
The long-term impact on your scalp includes some small, barely visible scars in the donor area, though these are typically hidden by surrounding hair. The transplanted areas will gradually develop normal sensitivity and texture as the skin fully heals.

Proper scalp care is crucial for good results - this means keeping the area clean according to your doctor's instructions, avoiding direct sunlight on treated areas, and not scratching or picking at scabs during healing.
Most people can return to normal hair care routines after about a month.
