Current Fellows

Jason Litak, MD

2011-2012 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Litak is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate work in Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego, earning Magna Cum Laude honors. He completed his medical education at the University of California, Los Angeles and an internship in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Litak’s residency in Dermatology was completed at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL where he served as Chief Resident Dermatology during his final year.

Dr. Litak has published many articles and presented at several Dermatology meetings. His clinical research interests are in Mohs surgery, facial reconstructive surgery, cutaneous oncology, and procedural dermatology.

Susan L. Boone, MD, MPH

2010-2011 Fellow of the Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Boone is a Board Certified Dermatologist. She attended Northwestern University in Chicago Illinois, where she completed her residency in Dermatology.

She did a Clinical Research Fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago Illinois.

Dr. Boone has received high honors such as Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Department highest honors from the University of California Los Angeles, the American Society Dermatologic Surgery Preceptorship Award in 2009, as well as Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Award in 2009.

Dr. Boone has written over twenty articles in professional journals and textbooks about Dermatologic conditions. She has presented various studies, poster, and scientific papers at various national professional meetings.

She actively volunteers in community events.



Joseph W. McGowan, IV MD.

2009-2010 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. McGowan was a Board Certified Dermatologist. He attended the Medical University of South Carolina, where he completed his residency in Dermatology. Dr. McGowan received numerous scholarships for his academic achievements. He received the Resident Recognition Award at the 10th Annual Caribbean Dermatology Symposium.

Dr. McGowan splits his practice time between Charleston, South Carolina as a Mohs surgeon with Dr. Marianne Rosen and Dayton Skin Surgery Center.

Dr. McGowan has written articles in professional journals and textbooks about Dermatologic conditions. He has presented various studies, poster, and scientific papers at various national professional meetings.

He actively volunteers in community events. His many interests include piano and music composition.



Arianne Chavez-Frazier, MD

2008-2009 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Chavez-Frazier is a Board Certified Dermatologist. She attended the University of Texas in Houston, where she completed her Residency in Dermatology, after which she did a Clinical Research Fellowship in Psoriasis and Phototherapy at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Chavez-Frazier has received high honors such as Magna Cum Laude of her 1999 class at Rice University; the Distinguished Minority Student Scholar Award; and numerous scholarships for her academic achievements.

Dr. Frazier is currently practicing as a Mohs surgeon with Park Avenue Dermatology in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Chavez-Frazier has written over twenty articles in professional journals and textbooks about Dermatologic conditions. She has also presented various studies, posters, and scientific papers at various national professional meetings.

Dr. Chavez-Frazier actively volunteers in community events. She is also a certified PADI diver and an American Red Cross instructor.



Thomas Lewis, MD

2007-2008 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Lewis is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate and medical education at The Ohio State University earning Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude honors respectively. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies. Dr. Lewis completed his Internship and Dermatology Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He served as Chief Resident during his final year of training. For his academic excellence, he was awarded with an International elective rotation in London, England.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Lewis along with his wife and three children remained in the area to be close to family and friends. He currently practices with Adena Health Systems in Chillicothe, Ohio and serves a curriculum advisor and faculty member for the Dayton Skin Surgery Center Fellowship Program.

Dr. Lewis has published several scholarly articles and presented at numerous national meetings, including the annual American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Meetings.



Richard Krathen, MD

2006-2007 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Krathen is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he also completed his residency in Dermatology. Dr. Krathen received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Award and Honors in Basic Science from the Baylor College of Medicine.

After completing his fellowship in July 2007, Dr. Krathen returned to southern Florida, along with his wife and two daughters, to be closer to family. He currently practices with Dermatology Associates of the Palm Beaches in Palm Beach, Florida.

Dr. Krathen has published over 20 articles in professional journals and textbooks about dermatology and dermatologic surgery. He has also presented studies and scientific papers at various national professional meetings



Ravi S. Krishnan, MD

2005-2006 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Krishnan is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston, Texas and graduated Cum Laude with degrees in chemical engineering and biochemistry. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and was awarded the Deborah Kalter Award for Outstanding Medical Student in Dermatology. Dr. Krishnan then completed an internship in internal medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Krishnan returned to Houston, Texas and Baylor College of Medicine where he completed his residency in Dermatology in 2005 and received the W.P. Johnson Memorial Award for Outstanding Resident in Dermatology.

Dr. Krishnan is a Mohs surgeon with Virginia Mason Medical Center, a multi-specialty practice in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Krishnan has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topics of Dermatology and dermatologic surgery. He has also given lectures on Mohs Micrographic Surgery and reconstructive techniques at the annual meetings of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American College of Mohs Surgery.



Ruchik Desai, MD

2004-2005 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Desai is a board certified Dermatologist. He has a BA in business economics and biology, attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana and completed his Residency in Dermatology at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Desai has spent time in several leadership roles for the American Medical Association Medical Students Section at a state and national level. In addition, he is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Desai is the Director of Northern Indiana Dermatology located in Portage, Indiana.

He is also the Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Indiana University.

Dr. Desai has published numerous articles in professional journals and textbooks about Dermatology and dermatologic surgery.
